Screaming Sky

Mel Tak - Mel Stringer:yeung Hok Tak

Directed and composed by Yoshitomo Nara, this slim, beguiling compendium of work by two artists – the Australian Mel Stringer and Yeung Hok Tak, from Hong Kong – sets their drawings, paintings and sketchbook-style illustrations side by side in a whimsical, evocative study that touches upon a range of themes, from feminist angst and tattooed girls to fantastical urban landscapes and cultural bricolage. With bright colours, lively pencilled lines and dense landscapes rising from only the point of a pen, both artists express joy and sadness, as well as sincerity and satire, in an original, unforgettable way. Includes short texts about the artists by Yoshitomo Nara.
